A NEW partnership has been launched at Westfield Academy in a bid to harvest energy from the sun and save more than £10,000 a year.

The school is working alongside the newly established South Somerset Community Energy to fit solar panels to the roofs of the Upper and Lower School.
It is expected the scheme will save the school more than £10,000 in the first year, and has been designed to offer local residents an investment opportunity.
In the first joint project of its kind in South Somerset, the academy will have the 200kW installation fitted free of charge by South Somerset Community Energy, a new community benefit society set up to save energy bills and reduce carbon emissions in the district.
